Scope of Work
VCA Simmons Animal Hospital, located in Greenacres, Florida, provides pets with high-quality, professional care. They are committed to making a positive impact for pets, people, and the community. To assist VCA Simmons Animal Hospital in providing expert veterinary medical services, The MDC Group did a 6,300 square foot remodel of an existing 12,300 square foot facility. This remodel included a complete reconfiguration of the facility to improve work flow and assist in increased patient care and efficiency. The renovation was completed in 5 phases over the course of 16 months. A majority of the renovation was in the back of the house areas like surgery, procedure, imaging, deal, cages/runs, food/drug and office/administration areas. We also installed a new outdoor area for the animals that included a new Tiger turf system, fencing and gates. The entire animal hospital, boarding and day care facility was in full operations during the construction period. The project included all new interior finishes, which included tile flooring, sheet vinyl flooring, luxury vinyl tile, epoxy flooring, base, paint, Acrovyn wall protection, tackable wall surface, solid surface counters, cabinetry and acoustical ceiling tiles. Additionally, we did a complete update of all equipment throughout the facility which included Medical equipment like scales, IV tracks, RX Cabinets, ultrasound machine, autoclave, surgery tables, surgery lights/booms, dental tables, exam tables, medical gas, x-ray machines, cages, shelving and carts. The existing building was not sprinklered so to bring the building up to the local city code a new sprinkler system was installed throughout. All new lighting and power was installed throughout the affected areas that will be more energy efficient and appropriate for the care given in each space. HVAC work included one new roof top unit and a reconfiguration of the existing roof top units and supply to accommodate the new zones for the facility. Additionally, the plumbing work included underground sanitary connections and reconfiguration of the existing system to accommodate the new layout of the facility.
